Biography

Jan-Erik Hybertsen is a Norwegian conductor educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music where he studied with Ole Kristian Ruud. He made his diploma and debut concert in 2010 leading The Norwegian Radio Orchestra.

Hybertsen works regularly as a guest conductor with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and with many of the leading professional wind ensembles in Norway and Denmark. As an advocate for Norwegian music he has conducted concerts consisting of all Norwegian repertoire with Romanian National Opera and Moldova National Philharmonic.

He has also conducted orchestras and ensembles like Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Sinfonietta and Rundfunkchor Berlin. After finishing his studies in Oslo, he continued to study in masterclasses with many leading conductor such as Eivind Gullberg Jensen, Stefan Solyom and Jorma Panula. He has also studied opera conducting with Paolo Arrivabeni when he took part at a masterclass with the Opera Royal de Wallonie in Liege.

In 2011 and 2012 Hybertsen studied with Kurt Masur in Germany and New York, participating in masterclasses led by Maestro Masur. As a candidate for the conducting workshop INTERAKTION in Berlin 2014 he got the opportunity to work with the Kritisches Orchester consisting of members from the Berliner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin and Konzerthausorkester.

In may 2016 he was a finalist for the position as assistant conductor for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
